Designing the round wristlet purse crochet pattern was an inspiration as a result of working on a purse using alpine crochet stitch. A friend of mine asked me to crochet a clutch purse for her, using a crochet purse pattern that she found online on Moogly. And, I just love how the purse turned out!
I think, it is the yarn color and alpine stitch combination, that gives the purse a bold and rich look. Since, I had almost the whole yarn skein leftover and I thought I would crochet a small bag for myself. Also, I really enjoyed working the alpine stitch so much that I decided to crochet the alpine stitch in the rounds. And let me tell you, it wasn’t easy but I finally figured it out.

Now, I will teach you how to sew a lining with zipper for a circle crochet purse
Step 1. Since the purse measures 7.5” in diameter, you need to cut two circles out of the lining fabric about 8.5” in diameter. Having the fabric circles 1” bigger will give you enough space for seam allowance to easily sew in the zipper.
Now, using a zig-zag stitch finish the edges of the fabric circles. You can use any fabric you prefer but I think working with cotton is the easiest.
Step 2. Pin one part of the zipper – left side, to one fabric circle – right side. While pining, make little pleads along the edge of the fabric. It would make sewing zipper to a round cut of fabric much easier and you don’t have to snip any notches.
Step 3. Repeat step 3 with the other part of the zipper and the second fabric circle.
Step 4. Now, pin both ends of the zipper and the fabric circles together and stitch around. Stitch at the angle, right where the ends of the zipper are pinned. It will nicely stitch the zipper in place.
Since you have the crochet round wristlet purse and the lining ready, now its time to learn how to assemble them together.
Step 1. Get the hand needle with the color matching thread ready and then slide the lining with a zipper into the crocheted pouch. You can pin the pouch edges to the zipper, so it will be easier for you to hand stitch it together.
Step 2. Starting from the beginning of the zipper, where the slider is on a zipped close zipper, hand stitch using backstitch. That way if the zipper is too long for the pouch opening, you will stitch through the zipper teeth at the end of the zipper.
You made this beautiful crochet circle wristlet bag with lining and zipper and now, you need to make and attach the handle loop.
To do that, you can buy a silver chain for purses and I think the purse would look amazing. Or, using the yarn, crochet a chain the length you prefer and I will show you how. You can buy or crochet a chain wristlet length 14-16” long or crossbody length, that is 47-51” long.
Step 1. So, ss the yarn thought a top ss, close to the beginning of a zipper and chain as many stitches as big you want the handle loop.
Step 2. Sc in the back-middle loop of a second chain from the hook and continue to the first ch.
Step 3. Bring the end of the chain to the beginning of the chain and ss through the first sc.
Step 4. And then, ss thorough the first ss and cut the yarn leaving a long yarn tail.
Step 5. Make a knot with the beginning and the end yarn tails and then weave them to the left side of the crocheted piece.
