A cat crochet free pattern is a perfect crochet home decor idea! Brighten your windowsill or bay window with this beautiful crochet Valentine’s day decor!
I designed the cat crochet free pattern to crochet a decor for Valentine’s Day. Since my four-year-old daughter is in the mode of loving cats, I surprised her with, not so real but hey, still cats! Lol.
My crochet cats are displayed on a cake stand which I have used in many other projects. One of my favorite crochet cake stand decor is a fall centerpiece crochet pattern. Also, a pine tree crochet pattern will give you an idea for a crochet decor for a cake stand. This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience (which means if you make a purchase after clicking a link, I will earn a small commission but it won’t cost you a penny more)!
Each cat’s body measures 6″ tall and their tails 8″ long.

Cut the yarn leaving a long tail. Stitch the opening closed and fasten off.
Now, I’ll show you how to crochet the cat’s tail.
1: ch2
2: 6sc in 2nd ch from the hook (6)
3: 2sc in each sc around (12)
3: (sc in next 5sc, 2sc in next sc) x2 (14)

14: (sc in next 4sc, sc2tog) (10)
15- 33: sc in each sc around until the tail is about 8” long
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail. Slide in a pipe cleaner inside the tail and stuff some fiberfill around the pipe cleaner.
Let’s crochet ears for the cat and of course, make two of them for each cat.
1: ch2
2: 4sc in 2nd ch from the hook (4)
3: (2sc in next sc, sc in next sc) x2 (6)
4: (2sc in next sc, sc in next 2sc) x2 (8)
5: (2sc in next sc, sc in next 3sc) x2 (10)
Cut the yarn leaving long tail.
Stitch all the pieces together to make a cat.
And, finally, crochet scarfs for the cats.
1: ch 4
2: starting in second ch from hook sc in next 3sc, turn
3: (ch1, sc in next 3sc, turn) repeat until the scarf is 13” long. Fasten off.
Cut six 4” long yarn pieces. Fold each piece in half and weave in three on each scarf’s short ends.
You can also sew on green buttons for the eyes and if you are a good embroiderer make some whiskers if you so choose. As you see I am not a good embroiderer so my cat looks a little demented, lol.
I hope that you found my cat crochet free pattern useful. It makes a great addition to a crochet home decor idea! You are welcome to share a picture of your crochet Valentine’s Day decor on my Facebook page.
Happy Crochet!
Love,
Agnes
