Easy Crochet Crossbody Purse makes a perfect gift and also is super quick and easy to make! I’m sure that every girly girl would be happy to have this adorably cute crochet crossbody purse!
My lovely daughter Sophia announced to me that she needs a purse to carry her stuff and if I could make her one. Since I assumed that this matter was very urgent, I needed to act quickly ? and came up with an easy crochet crossbody purse.
I recommend using 100% cotton yarn to crochet a purse because it doesn’t stretch much. Also, you want to use a thick crochet stitch and half double crochet works perfectly. You can choose any yarn color you wish to make your easy crochet crossbody purse. My daughter picked variegated yarn as the main color and matching one color for the edges. Let’s get into making easy crochet crossbody purse!
Step 1. Crochet two flat circles that will make the front and back of the purse.
1: start with a magic circle. Work 10hdc into the center of the circle. Join with a slip stitch. (10 stitches)
IMPORTANT! Join with sl st after every round and Ch 1 to start the next round.
2: 2hdc in every hdc (20)
3: (2hdc in next hdc, hdc in next hdc) x10 (30)
4: (2hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 2hdc) x10 (40)
5: (2hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 3hdc) x10 (50)
6: (2hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 4hdc) x10 (60)
7: (2hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 5hdc) x10 (70)
Cut the yarn, weave in the yarn tail. Finish off and snip the yarn.
Step 2. Crochet the two circles together and make a loop for a button.
Put the two crochet circles wrong side together and make sure the stitches of both pieces are aligning.
Yarn over and pull the yarn through the back and front aligning sc. Ch1.
Sc in next 23 sc of just the front circle and then join with sc to the corresponding sc of the back piece.
Keep joining front and back pieces of the easy crochet crossbody purse up until the first joining sc. Then, sc in the next 13sc of the back piece.
Ch 16, sl st in the 10th st from the hook and sl st in the next 6 st.
Sl st to the same (13th) sc of the back piece, and that way you made a loop for the button.
Sc in the rest sc of the back piece until the second joining sc.
Sl st in the next sc, cut the yarn and finish off.
Step 3. Sew on the button to the front piece of the purse.
Step 4. Crochet the shoulder strap.
Sl st to the sc of the first joining pieces sc of the purse.
Ch as many st to make the length of the strap as you wish, then join with sl st to the sc of the second joining sc. My strap is 38” long.
Next, sc in every st of the strap and sl st to the first joining pieces sc. It makes the strap a little wider and sturdier.
Here, Sophia is a happy owner of her easy crochet crossbody purse!
