In one of my previous posts, you can find a pine tree crochet pattern to make a beautiful crochet winter scene décor. I designed a Christmas tree cones crochet pattern to crochet taller trees and arrange them into festive crochet Christmas décor.
Basically, you’ll crochet different size covers to slip on the equivalent size foam cones. I think it’s super easy to crochet Christmas tree project compering to crochet cone trees that you need to stuff fiberfill. Now, I’ll show you how to crochet cone tree covers in four different sizes and variations.
Remove the original plastic that the foam cones are covered with and use plastic food wrap to wrap smoothly around.
I used the tea leaf yarn color to crochet one of the 6” tall cone trees and then I put some of the pearlized pins around it. For the other 6” tall cone tree I used the medium thyme yarn color along with the silver thread.
Next, for the 9” tall cone tree I used tea leaf color yarn and alpine stitch to crochet the cover.
The 12” tall cone tree I crocheted using the frosty green yarn color. Before I put the cover on the cone, I taped wire lights around.
For the 18” tall cone tree I used the green tones yarn color.
1. Make a magic circle and ch 2 (does not work as a st), work 8 dc into the circle. Sl st to first dc.
2. Ch2, *2dc in next dc in back loops, dc in next dc back loops – x4 (12dc)
Work in rounds – no slip stitching – and use a stitch marker to keep track of where you are in a pattern.
3. Sc in next 4dc, hdc in next 4dc, dc in the last 4dc (12)
4. *2dc in next st, dc in next 2sts – x4 (16)
5. dc in every st around (16)
6. *2dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts- x4 (20)
7. dc in every st around (20)
8. *2dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts- x4 (24)
9. dc in every st around (24)
10. *2dc in next st, dc in next 5 sts – x4 (28)
11. dc in every st around (28)
12. *2dc in next st, dc in next 6 sts – x4 (32)
13. dc in every st around (32)
14. *2dc in next st, dc in next 7 sts – x4 (36)
15. dc in every st around (36)
Now, crochet the finish round for the 6” tall cone.
Finish round: hdc in next 4 sts, sc in next 4sts, sl st to next st, finish off.
16. *2dc in next st, dc in next 8 sts – x4 (40)
17-21. dc in every st around (40)
22.*2dc in next st, dc in next 9 sts – x4 (44)
23-27. dc in every st around (44)
Make a finish round for a 12” tall cone after the 25th round
28. *2dc in next st, dc in next 10 sts – x4 (48)

32. *2dc in next st, dc in next 11 sts – x4 (52)
33-35. dc in every st around (52)
Now, make a finish round for an 18” tall cone.
