Let’s get into making an easy crochet lovebirds cake stand décor.
My easy crochet lovebirds are made with balls that are around 9.5” in circumference. A perfect size for this project.
Making the hats for the crochet lovebirds is easy and doesn’t require sewing. You can use a hot glue gun to make them and they will look great. I will teach you how to make the hats in the step-by-step tutorial below. Lastly, you need to cut out all the other pieces out of felt. To do so, you can use sharp scissors and cut them by hand, or if you are making a bigger number of these crochet lovebirds, Cricut Maker comes in handy.

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail, and sew the opening close. Finish off and snip the yarn.
Now, let’s gather all the pieces to make an easy crochet lovebirds cake stand décor!
First, make hats using fleece and a hot glue gun.
Step 1. Cut an 8×4” rectangle out of fleece and make sure the fabric stretch goes longwise. It’s important because it makes it easier to glue the hat to the crochet bird’s body.
Step 2. Fold the rectangle in half right side together and align the short edges. Put some hot glue along the right side along the short edge and press with the top of the folded rectangle.
Step 3. Get one of the open sides of the glued hat piece and fold the edge about ½” to the wrong side of the fabric. Hot glue the folded edge putting some glue between the fabrics.
Step 4. Turn the hat piece right side out and make cuts around the other open side.
Step 5. Cut a long piece of thread and fold it twice in half. Lay the thread under the hat piece right beneath the cuts, and make a knot. You made a nice warm hat with a pom-pom for your easy crochet lovebirds.
Step 6. Use a hot glue gun to glue all the pieces to the crochet ball starting with the feet heart. Look at those cute easy crochet lovebirds!
