Follow my hemp cord nest crochet pattern! Perfect for a crochet an Easter décor idea! Also, it works as a basket crochet pattern!
In my previous post on the easter eggs crochet pattern, I showed you how to crochet a perfectly shaped egg. I crocheted a bunch of them and I needed a nice nest to put them into. So, I designed a hemp cord nest crochet pattern and made a big sturdy nest for the eggs. Also, as you see in the picture, I like to use the hemp nest for the painted wooden eggs pysanky.

What you need for a hemp cord nest crochet pattern

2 spools of hemp cord size: #48, (I used hemp cord that I found at Hobby Lobby, one spool length is 300′)

crochet hook J 6.0mm – Clover brand is my favorite
Abbreviations:
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sc2tog – single crochet two together (decrease)
st(s) – stitch(es)
Let’s follow the hemp cord nest crochet pattern also perfect as a hemp cord basket crochet pattern!
So, the finished hemp nest is about 11″ in diameter.
Every round begins with ch1, which does not count as a stitch. Finish every round with sl st to first hdc.
1. Make a magic ring and ch1. Work 8 hdc in the magic ring and sl st to first hdc.
2. ch1, 2hdc in every hdc around, sl st to first hdc (16)
3. ch1, (2hdc in next st, hdc in next st) x8, sl st to first hdc (24)
4. ch1, (2hdc in next st, hdc in next 2sts) x8, sl st to first hdc (32)
5. ch1, (2hdc in next st, hdc in next 3sts) x8, sl st to first hdc (40)
6. ch1, (2hdc in next st, hdc in next 4sts) x8, sl st to first hdc (48)
7. ch1, (2hdc in next st, hdc in next 5sts) x8, sl st to first hdc (56)
8. ch1, (2hdc in next st, hdc in next 6sts) x8, sl st to first hdc (64)
9. ch1, (2hdc in next st, hdc in next 7sts) x8, sl st to first hdc (72)

Cut the cord and weave in the cord tail.
