DIY felt daisy placemats and coasters are a super easy project to make because you use felt for that project. Working with felt is extra enjoyable for many reasons, especially since felt doesn’t fray and it comes in lots of bright and fun colors. So, cutting felt is just a pure joy! And, you can use sharp detail scissors and do it by hand or use the cricut machine. Using the cricut machine is extra helpful, especially if you need to cut large number of pieces and I will include free SVG file in my resource library for you to use.
If you choose cutting out the pieces by hand make sure you pin the printed paper template to the felt very well, so it won’t shift.
To applique the daisy pieces one on the other, you need to use the zig zag stitch on your sewing machine. Also, because the pieces are in different colors, you need to rethread your machine a few times to different color of thread. Before appliqueing the pieces, make sure you pin the pieces you work at the time together, so they will stay in place.
Lastly, as you probably see, the steps you take to make the placemats are the same as to make coasters. All right! Have fun crafting!
