I am sure you washed your old jeans and flannel shirts plenty of time. If you are using new denim or flannel fabric please wash it first to pre-shrink it.

Let’s start with the Mouse Denim Christmas Ornament

Step 1. Cut out the body and ears pieces and iron on light interfacing to one flannel body and flannel ears pieces.

Step 2. Make two cuts on one denim body and interfaced flannel body pieces. Using the zig-zag stitch, sew around both earpieces.

Step 3. Weave in thread using a needle through the middle of the circle. Gather by pulling the thread and sew through the gathered cloth a few times. Finish off and cut the thread tail and you got mouse’s ears.

Step 4. Cut 2 10” long jute cords for mouse’s tails, and they will also work as loops to hang on the tree. Fold the cords in half and put them between two body pieces, that are right side together. Sew around making sure not to sew through the cord and leave 1.5” opening.

Make sure to make notches on the curves.

Step 5. Turn the body pieces right side out through the opening. Now it’s a good time to get the ears attached to the mouse’s body. Squish the earpieces with your fingers and weave them through the cut.

Step 6. Stuff the mouse’s body with fiberfill and hand stitch the opening close.

And there, you just made two cute denim mouse Christmas ornaments!

Now, the next four ornaments have a fuzzy finish. You need to wash your project before finishing it to get the fringy edges.

Let’s start with the denim bell Christmas ornament!

I got the idea to make the denim bell ornament from blueprint. It was originally designed by Meadowside Designs.

Step 1. Cut out two denim and two flannel circles.

Step 2. Align one denim and one flannel left side together and stitch it around. Now, it’s time to wash your project.

Step 3. After washing cut out long excess frays. Cut 2 12” long jute cords and slip on one bell on each cord. Make knots about 3.5” from the bell.

Step 4. Lay the cord with the bell in the middle of the circle piece with the knot slightly under the edge. Use a hot glue gun to glue the knot to the fabric.

Step 5. Overlap the edges of the circle and then glue them together. Next, make a knot about 2.5” from the bell and cut the excess cord.

Repeat Step 4 but glue the cord to the opposite fabric (If you first glued to the denim, now you would glue to the flannel).

“Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way …” – I guess I’m really getting into the Christmas spirit!

Next, let’s make denim gnome Christmas ornament.

  1. I see no instructions for the gnome. What are the measurements of the cardboard you wrapped for the beard. Is the hat stuffed?

    • Cathy, print out the templates that you can find in my library. Use the template to cut out the fabric for the gnome. Yes, the piece is stuffed with fiberfill. For the beard you can use CD cover. Hope I helped.
